1. The Sopranos

oldmagic55 writes:

My all time favorite. SOPRANOS......sigh

BureaucraticHotboi writes:

Sopranos is basically the best drama ever made by humans and I’ll stand on that. The acting the writing all of it deeply diving into the characters psychology while maintaining an amazing and compelling storyline. Breaking Bad is amazing too, but it owes so much to the Sopranos I can’t put it above

deller85 writes:

The Sopranos hands down. It paved the way for a style of television that is so beloved today.

2. The Wire

genericjeesus writes:

The Wire is up there

Amar0k171 writes:

Great show. RIP Lance Reddick, his character is one of my favorites

attaboy000 writes:

And RIP Michael Kenneth Williams :( So many good characters in that show, and those 2 were definitely at the top.

conventionalWisdumb writes:

I don’t think there is another show that I can say this about: that show is important. I don’t know how many people I know who say that that show made them a better person. Actors on the show say that working on it made them better people.

3. Six Feet Under

snowsurfr writes:

Six Feet Under has the absolute best series finale. If you have seen the entire series, you know.

DarthMaulOpress writes:

I'm glad this show is making a resurgence. I haven't heard people talk about it in a long time

jdifab writes:

No other show has impacted me so profoundly.

4. Band Of Brothers

genericjeesus writes:

Band of brothers

ICumCoffee writes:

The episode where they found concentration camp deep inside the jungle woods is one of the most excruciating moment in the series.

5. The Sopranos

6. Breaking Bad

alexboulder9807 writes:

In this situation every head must bow, every tongue must confess, Breaking Bad is the Greatest of all Time.

7. Lost

halfajacob writes:

LOST holds up surprisingly well. I know many people who put off watching it now because they THINK that they know the ending, but the fact of the matter is that “they were dead the whole time” is a meme that has spread which just isn’t true.

twisty77 writes:

Plus Lost really pioneered the character development movement. The flashbacks each episode to flesh out the character of the week plus the development they go through over time. The show did SO many things well but people focus on the minute things they got wrong. It’s a shame, really

8. It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia

thisendup76 writes:

āœ“ Longest running live-action America Sitcom with 15 seasons (& counting) āœ“ Every season audience score is in the top 80% (give or take) āœ“ Danny Devito

Cansinoboy1989 writes:

Love this show

NJtoNM writes:

I LOVE watching those morons. They have real staying power. What an incredible group of talent.

9. Startrek the Next Generation

Extension-Tone-2115 writes:

It’s not for everyone but the lessons learned and the perspective is invaluable. It’s thanks to watching that show as a kid that my mind could wrap around and understand things like quantum mechanics and parallel universes and how we’re all connected and how world peace can be achieved.

Admins_R_Cunts99 writes:

Great show, really shaped me as a young person. Valuable lessons on conflict resolution and just being diplomatic and tolerating others.

10. The Twilight Zone

sketchysketchist writes:

Each revival has its fans but the original is a masterclass of talented writing, direction, and production. It helps that they also were restricted by society to work around being too blunt about the topic they’re covering each episode, so they became timeless life lessons that have aged well.

60 years later and no TV show has been better yet.

11. Mad Men

jakksquat7 writes:

Started on a high note and ended on one. All of the characters are so broken and so well acted. It’s incredible.

whitemystery1204 writes:

Mad Men forever.

pixelpetewyo writes:

It gets better every watch. That show has so many layers I feel like an archaeologist.

12. MASH

Stormschance writes:

MASH all day.

charredburger writes:

Certainly one of the best sitcoms of all time. They basically turned over nearly a full cast and never missed a beat. It also evolved from a slapstick humor show to a more serious political tone in the later years.

bucketAnimator writes:

Definitely has to be in contention as one of the most popular of all time given the series finale drew over 100 million viewers and was the most watched broadcast event until the 2010 Super Bowl.

13. Arrested Development

LSDeeznutz419 writes:

There's always money in the banana stand.

cedarvhazel writes:

Arrested development!

rec12yrs writes:

No show has moments that make me laugh as hard as some of the moments in Arrested Development - for example Job's video for George Michael's campaign.

14. The Simpsons

sketchysketchist writes:

The humor is just chef’s kiss. No laugh track for awkward pauses. The jokes were never at the expense of a minority group nor were they bigoted. And it shows that the writers were in the same room riffing off the joke to see how far they can take it.

WriterWri writes:

The Simpsons. The first 9 seasons set such a high bar for TV writing.

nazbot writes:

The jokes are just very clever. It's also very satirical. The placement of the jokes and sheer number of quality jokes in each episode is great.

15. Seinfeld

D0gTh0t writes:

It literally set the tone for modern sitcom humor, and it STILL holds up. The references might be dated, the standup is bad, but the writing is impeccable, and it influenced so many shows and aspects of late 20th/early 21st century culture.

Project8666666 writes:

Seinfeld is a forever classic.

barkingdog53 writes:

I can’t think of any other show that has become such a part of our vernacular.

16. Golden Girls

SugarBabyWannabe writes:

It still makes me laugh and smile, nostalgic as well for me.

csortland writes:

Golden Girls is one of the best sitcoms ever.

rogue1206 writes:

My husband and I named our daughter after Rose. She enjoys watching the reruns with us.

17. Twin Peaks

AeroSpaceChair writes:

Twin Peaks: The Return was singlehandedly the most bizarre and amazing piece of television I've ever consumed. Episode 8 alone changed everything about what I thought a TV show could be. It might not be for everyone, but damn, there's absolutely nothing else like it.

Alpaca_Stampede writes:

Damn fine TV show. šŸ‘

bajesus writes:

Twin Peaks is a real ride!

18. The West Wing

Haywood187 writes:

The West Wing has always been a favorite of mine.

DETRITUS_TROLL writes:

Two Cathedrals is one of the best hours of television ever made. I rewatch it every couple of years or so. not a single subpar episode.

Adwah writes:
